In the use of solid polymer materials such as plastic film, rubber and fabric, the properties of the material are not only related to its bulk properties, but also the surface properties of the material account for a considerable proportion. For example, involving adhesion, adsorption, friction, surface hardness, etc.

Therefore, surface modification of materials is often carried out in order to meet the requirements of multifunctional materials in modern society. A new dry modification method, plasma surface modification, is introduced in this paper.

Plasmas are composed of electrons, ions, atoms, molecules and free radicals, as well as photons. They are generally electrically neutral.

Plasma is a state of existence of all kinds of materials, it is the same level of material existence form with solid, liquid, gas, some people say that plasma is the fourth state of matter. In fact, most of the matter around the sun and in the universe exists in plasma.

We also see plasmas in our daily life. The most common is flame. A flame can be regarded as a plasma state in which combustible materials release energy and excite air and other volatile gases, which is a "primitive" artificial plasma.

At present, among the artificial plasma methods, there are more radiation excitation methods, including radiofrequency glow discharge (10~100MHZ, RF) and microwave discharge (more than 1GHZ, MW). In the surface modification treatment of polymer materials, both of them are used. RF discharge plasma is more commonly used, but the low-pressure plasma generated by MW method is more evenly distributed and the surface treatment of the material is more uniform.
